Question :
What is an MVP? How simple / feature rich should it be?
Answers :
An MVP is a “Minimum Viable Product”.
It is the smallest possible and most basic usable version of your product.
The purpose is to gauge interest and explore if people are interested at all in using your product, who would buy it, and for how much.
Depending on what benefit (“value Proposition”) you are bringing to your clients (“Customer Segments”), it can sometimes be as simple as a Google Spreadsheet, or Google / Airtable / Typeform Form, or even a WhatsApp group…
In other cases, it can be a much richer and polished product.
This step can be invaluable to reduce costs, find what people want, build and adjust based on constant feedback.
Important: An MVP is often a disposable learning tool.
Example: “Parking Spot Finder” / a website or app where car owners can find a parking spot near their house.
The simplest MVP could be a WhatsApp group where people post spots they free, so others can try and park.
Near zero setup cost (only time and effort), very easy to gauge interest, engagement, usage, issues, etc.
