“I want to be respectful of your time…” / “To avoid wasting anyone’s time…“
Over the years, I have witnessed “Time” becoming the most precious resource for many people around me.
CEOs, Founders, Investors, Business Coaches, all value their time more than anything else, and make a point to express it, sometimes bluntly.
I am “Time Generous”
As much I do respect their time, trying to make a conscious effort to maximize our interactions, I have a different philosophy:
I am “Time Generous” : I will always find time for :
- Family : Family comes first.
- Friends quality time, doing fun, sometimes silly things. A good laugh, joy and happiness are great counter-value
- Teammates : from building better connections, to helping with work and personal challenges, guiding, mentoring, listening, anything to help them succeed
- Community members : Helping them learn, build, grow, succeed
- Ideate and create: I am the most creative when I let my mind wander, often in a remote quiet area (beach, mountain, forest, shower!)
“Bad ROI”?
How do you measure the return on your time investment? (and should you?)
For me, all these activities help cement my values, clarify my purpose, connect better with awesome humans, and as a byproduct, earn “karma” points.
